Eleven cities in Russia have experienced a massive boom in construction ahead of the World Cup - thanks to the decision to invest in steel-based infrastructure, including the laying on of 700 trains, and the creation of 5,500km of railway lines, for the event.
Other measures include using steel to temporarily expand seating in a number of stadiums, as well as steps to improve sustainability of the venues, according to World Steel, a non-for-profit organisation which represents some of the biggest names in steel manufacture around the globe.
